BIO & PURPOSE

Dr. Barbara Thiering was an active member of the University of Sydney's School of Divinity for twenty-two years and is now a full-time writer and researcher. Her three more recent published books are:

  • "Jesus the Man: Decoding the Real Story of Jesus and Mary Magdalene" November, 2006, Simon and Schuster, New York (with a new Foreword) available at SimonSays, official publisher's site
(Prevous title: "Jesus the Man", 1992 Transworld- Doubleday
(U.S.: "Jesus & the Riddle of the Dead Sea Scrolls" 1992, HarperCollins)
  • "Jesus of the Apocalypse" 1995, Transworld- Doubleday
  • "The Book That Jesus Wrote: John's Gospel" 1998, Transworld Doubleday.

Dr. Barbara Thiering was the first to discover the application of the pesher technique to the New Testament and to use the word "pesher".

By the application of the "pesher" (pronounced "paysher"), according to strict and consistent rules, it is possible to uncover the hidden meaning of the Gospels, Acts, and Revelation. However, there is much to study before becoming a "pesharist", therefore it is important to read Dr. Thiering's books and to study her original contributions here.
